Christmas sangria

Inspiration

We are dreaming of a WINE Christmas and have the perfect cocktail to cozy up with this Christmas night! This Christmas sangria recipe by former Market employee Amber Verity is the perfect mix of warm spices and juicy festive fruits! We recommend using a red that has a fruity undertone like a Merlot. We also suggest including whole spices but you can use a pinch of grounded spices if preferred. So grab a pitcher and start mixing!

Ingredients

  • 750 mL bottle of Merlot (or any red wine)


  • 3 Tbsp Sugar


  • 1 oz Orange Juice


  • 1 cinnamon Stick

  • 
2 cloves 


  • 1 star anise pod


  • 1 oz Grand Marnier


  • 1 grapefruit, sliced


  • 1 orange, sliced


  • 1 apple, sliced 


  • 1 cup grapefruit sparkling water (you can use ginger ale if you prefer, or nothing at all if you prefer a bubble-less sangria)


  • 1 cup fresh cranberries 


  • 1 cup pomegranate seeds

Method

  1. Combine all ingredients into a pitcher and stir in sugar until dissolved. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours but preferably overnight. Pour over ice when ready and enjoy.
